School Back Pack Program

School Back Pack ProgramJohn Ball kicked off the 2010 School Backpack program, with a reminder that the state's portion of the sales tax is waived for purchases made from August 6 through August 15.

Each fall, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise provides backpacks for kids who otherwise would not have supplies for school.  The Sunrise Rotarians provide hundreds of backpacks filled with essential school supplies.  These backpacks are distributed to needy children in the Chicagoland area.

For more information on the program, see School Back Packs.

DuPage PADS

DuPage PADSTim Walker, executive director of DuPage PADS, thanked Sunrise Rotarians for their continued contributions, and said too many homeless people are being turned away. "We need to open more sites and get more people off the streets," Walker said.

The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise supports DuPage PADS and the homeless by volunteering to host the homeless shelter once a month and has named DuPage PADS as a major beneficiary of the Rotary Ride.

New Sunrise Rotary President

With the June 30 installation of a new president and board of directors, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise began a new year of challenges and general hilarity. Incoming President Trevor Morgan assured Outgoing President Nicki Scott that the baton will not be dropped: "You, and I, and all of you, will be doing this, frankly, until we go out feet first. So, Nicki, nothing's going to be left undone; we're going to do it together anyway," Trevor told those gathered at Cafe Buonaro's Restaurant.

In the photo above, Trevor receives the club charter from outgoing President Nicki Scott. See a complete list of our club leadership.
