Thank you for considering talking to Sunrise Rotary. We have fast paced fun 61 minute meeting at 7 am each Friday at Naperville Country Club (except in January when we move our meetings). Speakers usually are allocated 10-20 minutes. About 50-80 members and guests attend our average meeting.
You have been suggested by ___________ who was hoping you could share about __________. You are free to talk about your area of expertise. We ask that speakers speak not sell or promote any specific product or service but if Rotarian's are interested in contacting you further please bring your business cards etc.
We are a service club in Naperville IL and part of Rotary International. Rotary International is the largest service club in the world with 1.3 million members in 33,000 clubs in 200 countries and territories. Rotarian's are literally connected to leaders in every profession in every community in the world. We all share a motto: Service above Self and conduct our business with a Four Way test. We are successful as an organization of peace through service. While we welcome people of all faiths and political affiliations we are not a political or religious organization. To be inclusive we avoid emphasizing any divisive or political or religious stances or statements while at our meetings.
AV or Microphone
If you have audio video needs we hope that you will share them with us ahead of time. It is great to arrive early and test the setup so you avoid any nervous moments. We generally have a projector but it just has an older VGA connection. We generally have a wireless microphone. we have just 1 audio input so if you have a video with audio we have to switch out your microphone for your audio and then back after your video. If you have AV questions or may need assistance please contact Jim Ensign 630-445-1586 and give him some warning a couple days before you talk.
What is Naperville Sunrise about?
Our St. Paddy's Day 5K event relies on hundreds of volunteers to help us raise tens of thousands in support for causes including teen parents, scouts, careers centers, and families in need. We host a PAD's monthly and have service and social projects through out the year. While we are have in Community and business leaders we welcome any service minded people into our membership. Members serve in different areas:
We support service to youth and families locally and around the world. We also sponsor service clubs at local schools. As well as exchange students and scholars.
International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to PolioPlus to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries. Sunrise rotary has lead the building of two community Schools in Tikondane Zambia and is working on clean water hydro electric power in Duchity, Haiti. In Spring 2012 NNHS interact club hosted an event that raised thousands of dollars which provided safe drinking water for about a hundred families in Haiti.
Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards. Rotarian's, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process. In the past this has been interpreted by sunrise as offering scholarships and supporting causes like the community career center. And speakers on business ethics. Our four way test for all Rotarian issues are: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Is it beneficial to all concerned? Going forward vocational service and new generations may choose both use a mentoring program as a tool to achieve some of their goals. The mentoring program has been drafted and is ready for a pilot run.
Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in the local community. Sunrise staff's and supplies a PADS shelter monthly and financially supports dozens of community service organizations. Many of the Sunrise Rotarian's are also members, staff and board members of community organizations.
Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs. While Sunrise is service club we are drawn to each other socially as well. We build good will and better friendships through club social functions. Meanwhile our members seam to bump into each other at every social function around town and even events the far reaches of the the small planet we share. Sunrise members are not immune to needs for support in the rotary service areas. Members should support other members in their times of needs or opportunities as well.
